Privacy policy

Wayn is a navigation app for drivers in Iraq. This policy explains what the app collects, why, how long we keep it, and how you can delete it. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Using Wayn without an account
The whole app works without signing in. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account for your device so that your reports and saved places can be stored. It contains no name, email or phone number.
What we collect
- Location. Your location is used on your phone to show where you are, plan routes and guide you. The start and destination of a route are sent to our routing server to calculate it; they are not stored there.
- Driving speeds (optional). While you navigate, Wayn can send your speed and position along the road so that it can learn traffic and find faster routes for everyone. The start and end of each trip are cut off before upload. Raw traces are deleted after 7 days; only anonymous road-speed averages are kept. You can switch this off at any time in Settings → Share road speeds.
- Road reports. When you report an accident, traffic jam, closed road or other hazard, we store the type of report, its location and time, linked to your account so that we can limit abuse. Other drivers see the report, never who sent it. Reports are deleted 30 days after they expire.
- Saved places. Places you save (such as Home or Work) are stored with your account so that they survive a reinstall or a new phone when you sign in. Recent searches stay on your phone only.
- Place suggestions and business listings. If you add a missing place, suggest a correction or claim a business, we store what you submit (and, for businesses, the phone number, opening hours, website, description and photos you provide) so that our moderators can review it. Approved business details are shown publicly.
- Sign-in (optional). If you sign in with Apple, Google or an email code, we store the email address and the name that the provider shares with us. This keeps your history when you change phones.
- Search. The words you search for are sent to our search service to find places. They are not linked to your account.
Services that process data for us
- Supabase (database and sign-in), hosted in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Our own routing server in Europe, reached through Cloudflare.
- Map images from OpenFreeMap; your phone requests the map tiles for the area you are viewing.
- Apple and Google, only if you choose to sign in with them; Resend, which delivers the email sign-in code.
Deleting your data
In the app, open Settings → Account → Delete account. This deletes your account, saved places and sign-in details from our servers and clears the data on your phone. Reports and suggestions you made before deleting stay visible without any link to you until they expire or are reviewed. You can also ask us to delete your data by writing to [email protected].
Children
Wayn is meant for drivers and is not directed at children under 13.
